Thousands of anti-Trump marchers filled the street of Stamford Saturday, bearing signs and shouting messages that focused almost exclusively on one simple theme: "No kings in America." The event coincided with other "No Kings" marches taking place Saturday across Connecticut and the nation before military tanks roll through Washington for the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary – also President’s Trump’s 79th birthday.
State Rep. Matt Blumenthal, of Stamford, took part in the Stamford march. "I'm proud to be here with thousands of people in the streets of Stamford today, saying we don't have kings here in America, fighting back for our democracy, fighting back for our civil and voting rights," Blumenthal said. Susan Vogel helped organize the event. "America does not stand for kings -- there are no kings in America. This is a democracy. The people rule the country, not one person, but all of us," Vogel said.
