The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Nassau County through 9 p.m. The watch details involve the potential of strong to severe storms forming, capable of producing damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and up to quarter size (1" ) diameter hail stones. The potential for tornadic activity is low but still possible.
For tonight, expect a few showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m.
WHAT'S NEW: Dangerous heat levels possible Sunday to Wednesday. Heat wave possible with highs near 90 and feels like temperatures 95 to 106 degrees.
WHAT'S NEXT: Dense fog this morning. Strong to Severe storms possible between 3 and 9pm. Be weather aware.
TODAY: STORM WATCH. BE ALERT. Hot and Humid. Fog this morning gives way to sun and clouds with late day scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some storms can produce heavy rain, strong winds, hail and the chance for a weak tornado. High near 86, feels like temperatures 88 to 95 degrees.
TONIGHT: A few showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 68. West wind 10 to 20 mph.
